Handwashing Tips from OrganWise Guys

OWG handwashing

Handwashing tips from our friends at OrganWise Guys

Tip 1: Sing “Happy Birthday.”

After handling raw meat or poultry, take 20 seconds to wash your hands. This is about the same amount of time as singing the “Happy Birthday” song to yourself twice. Wet hands, apply soap, and work into a lather to kill any harmful bacteria. Rise and dry well!

Tip 2: Avoid the faucet and door handle.

When using a public restroom, avoid touching the sink faucet and door handle with your hands after you have cleaned them. Bacteria can linger on these surfaces. Use a paper towel to turn off the faucet and open the door, then toss it in the garbage.

Tip 3: Use hand sanitizer.

Keep a small bottle of alcohol-based hand sanitizer handy for yourself and/or your children when water is not available to lather up. Squeeze a dime size amount onto your palm them rub hands together until dry.
