As the Nemours 5-2-1-Almost None game wheel spun in the Jewish Community Center’s auditorium in Maitland, children were asked to name their favorite physical activity, fruit or vegetable. Nemours messages for a healthy lifestyle including “eating the colors of the rainbow” and “sometimes/anytime food and activities,” were all shared as part of the JCC’s Early Childhood Learning Center’s 2nd Annual Healthy Habits for Life day held on January 22nd. The event gave hundreds of children a chance to learn more about nutrition and physical activity through fun, interactive activities that included an obstacle course, smoothie tastings and a chance to make their own trail mix out of gogi berries, kale and veggie chips, and dried cherries and mangoes! Families were also asked to participate at home by asking their child about their healthy choices. The children were then able to present this information at the Show and Share to learn how their class made healthy choices for the week.
