Come enjoy two extraordinary days cooking with chefs and hands-on gardening. Participate in discussions and activities that will help you build your own garden and cooking curriculum customized to your resources, needs and ability. Embark on a path of experiential education that integrates the principles of health and nutrition into your teaching.

Event Details
June 14 & 15, 2017 – 8:00am – 3:00pm
Cost: $350 (includes breakfast & lunch) Plus one-year free resource membership.
Space is limited but may be reserved with a deposit of $50, by June 1.

The Golden Shovel Awards are a chance to be recognized for your school’s garden efforts. In its third year, the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services recognizes exceptional school garden programs in five categories:

  • Best New Garden
  • Best Revitalized Garden
  • Most Creative Learning Environment
  • Best Use of Produce
  • Most Community Involvement

For each category, a winner is awarded at both the elementary (grade K-5) level and secondary (grade 6-12) level. Visit our website here to learn more and apply. The application is due by May 1, 2017.

Please note that schools must be participating in the USDA National School Lunch Program for the 2016-2017 school year to be eligible for prizes.
