This year’s Fast Start Track and Field Invitational, which has drawn a record breaking 1,035 entries, will feature its first pre-race pasta party.
The 8th annual Fast Start will be held Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 at Showalter Field in Winter Park, and the pasta party will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 1, 2013 at the Winter Park High School Cafeteria.
Dinner will feature pasta, salad and breadsticks from The Olive Garden restaurant for $5 per person. Ages two and under are free.
The dinner also will feature speaker Shelby Hayes who is a current NCAA First Team All-American at the University of Florida, a former state record holder, and WPHS school record holder in seven events. She’ll share her experiences with the kids and will be available for questions and autographs. She is expected to speak around 6:30 p.m.

Designed to foster a love of running and to get kids moving, Fast Start is a free, day-long event for students attending Aloma, Audubon Park, Brookshire, Cheney, Dommerich, Hungerford, Lake Sybelia and Lakemont elementary schools. Registration to participate in Fast Start has closed.
