Aloma Elementary Celebrates School Renovation

Orange County School Board Chairman Bill Sublette, School Board member Joie Cadle and School Superintendent Dr. Barbara Jenkins joined Aloma Principal Dr. Drew Hawkins, parents and students for a school dedication ceremony at Aloma Elementary on November 7.

The celebration marked the completion of Aloma Elementary School’s renovation that began in June 2011. Built in 1967, the school has a new wing housing the administrative center, media center and new classrooms. The existing building was renovated as the new wing was constructed. Classrooms were updated, along with the kitchen and cafeteria, playground and pavilion area, and the school now has the latest in technology, including interactive white boards.

Education is the great equalizer, Dr. Hawkins told the students in the audience. It gives you something no one can take away. “The hard work you do today will impact your whole life,” he added.
