Brookshire Elementary HST Leader Randi Topps makes sure there are a variety of fitness opportunities for children at the school.
During the 2011-12 school year, there were yoga classes, swim programs and a track club. The track club had 41participants, and one student completed more than 25 miles.
The HST staffed a booth at the school carnival and distributed information on bike safety, nutrition, community services, and fitness programs.
While activities may change during the 2012-13 school year because Brookshire is being rebuilt and students will be housed for one year at 1500 Falcon Drive, Orlando, FL, you can continue to check Coach Topp’s web page for the latest fitness news. The colorful website, http://teacher.ocps.net/randi.topps/, includes everything from information on PE and Wellness resources and bicycle safety tips, to a PE and Wellness calendar and Coach Topps’ Scavenger Hunt! If you complete her hunt—which involves answering health and safety questions, you can earn a “Topps Team” certificate of wellness. (You can use the “PE & Wellness Resources page” links or other information on Coach Topps’ Web pages to find answers that navigate you through this scavenger hunt.)
